Substance Use Treatment & Recovery
Outpatient Services
Treatment and recovery services for mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders are designed to help individuals develop the necessary skills to maintain a healthy, recovery-oriented lifestyle. Outpatient services start by completing an evaluation and assessment, which then identifies an initial individualized treatment plan that can include therapy, care management, and/or medication management. Outpatient therapy at VBH may include individual, family, and group counseling. Family involvement is a crucial component of any recovery process and is a welcomed addition in each person’s treatment plan. Outpatient counseling is available at all VBH locations and via phone appointments.
Intensive Outpatient Program
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) provide structured, evidence-based treatment services for individuals with substance use or co-occurring disorders. Sessions are in a group format and meet at minimum for three hours a day, three days a week. Participants receive a certificate upon program completion. On-going support and aftercare are vital to continuing recovery and are available as part of IOP.
Residential Treatment
VBH provides residential treatment for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders at our Cookeville location (coming soon). The program provides structured treatment using evidence-based protocols to assist individuals with substance use recovery. Discharge planning includes the development of a comprehensive, recovery and relapse prevention plan. This includes planning for outpatient therapy, medication management, groups, Intensive Outpatient Program, housing, and community-based support services.
Medically Managed Crisis Detoxification
The Medically Managed Crisis Detoxification program provides detoxification to individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis and are in need of detoxification from alcohol or drugs. The program is located in Cookeville and is a collaboration between the Crisis Stabilization Unit, Walk-in Center and New Leaf Recovery Center.
Women’s CHOICES Program
The Women’s CHOICES Program is for mothers needing substance use and mental health treatment. This program offers intensive outpatient group therapy, Certified Peer Support, intensive care management, nurturing parenting classes, drug testing, family support services, transportation to and from services, and connections to additional services such as counseling, medication management, individual therapy, and support groups. We believe that recovery happens inside and outside the treatment facility. We strive to set our participants up for success by helping them build a strong support network that meets their unique needs and circumstances. The Women’s CHOICES Program is available at our Chattanooga and Cookeville campuses.
