SUBSTANCE USE TREATMENT AND RECOVERY
24/7 Medically Monitored Detoxification Program
Medical detox may be the first step in starting the path to recovery. Detox is a medically supervised process designed to remove toxins from the body caused by substance use. Clients may require a medical detox to help them safely manage withdrawal symptoms from substances they have used. Unsupervised withdrawal from substances can be a life-threatening health emergency under certain circumstances. Medical personnel are available 24/7 to assess clients and to determine the necessity for admission into this program. VBH has 24 medical detox beds on our Cookeville campus for men and women. Additional medical detox beds are coming soon to our Chattanooga and Murfreesboro campuses.
Outpatient Services
Substance use and co-occurring disorders treatment and recovery services are designed to help individuals develop the necessary skills to maintain a healthy, recovery-oriented lifestyle. Outpatient therapy at VBH may include individual, family, and group counseling. Family involvement is a crucial component of the recovery process and is welcome to each person’s treatment process. Outpatient counseling is available at all VBH locations and via phone appointments.
Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP)
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) provide structured, evidence-based treatment services for individuals with substance use or co-occurring disorders. Sessions are in a group format. Clients in this program meet for three hours a day, three days a week. The program takes 12 weeks and 36 group sessions to complete. Clients receive certificates upon program completion. On-going support and aftercare are vital to continuing recovery and are available as part of IOP. VBH also offers the Intensive Outpatient CHOICES Program for women at the Cookeville campus.
Women’s CHOICES Program
The Women’s CHOICES Program is for mothers needing substance use and mental health treatment. This program consists of 32-36 group sessions and 12 parenting sessions. VBH offers intensive outpatient group therapy, Certified Peer Support, intensive care management, nurturing parenting classes, drug testing, family support services, criminal justice liaison services, child care during treatment, transportation to and from services, and connections to other professional and community-based services, such as counseling, medication management, and support groups. We believe that recovery happens inside and outside the treatment facility. We strive to set our participants up for success by helping them build a strong support network that meets their unique needs and circumstances. The Women’s CHOICES Program is available at our Cookeville campus.
Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) Program
Clients diagnosed with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) may benefit from medication specific to their substance-use recovery needs. Previously known as Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT), MOUD combines opioid-use or alcohol-use-specific medications and a continuum of interactive counseling services to provide a “whole person” experience for clients engaged in our Substance Use Treatment and Recovery programs. MOUD is associated with positive outcomes such as helping clients manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings and increased sustained abstinence from opioids, alcohol, and other drugs. VBH has an MOUD/MAT clinic on our Cookeville campus for men and women.
Counseling
VBH offers individual counseling, also known as outpatient therapy, for children and adults. Counseling addresses mental health and co-occurring disorders, as well as family counseling. Experienced counselors at VBH use evidence-based tools to assist clients with managing behavioral health concerns. Counselors work individually with clients and families to build treatment plans and identify tools to help clients overcome issues and restore them to their best selves. Outpatient counseling is available at all VBH locations and via phone appointments.
Care Management (Care Coordination)
Care Management is a specialty service at VBH to assist individuals and families coping with serious mental illness. For many people, Care Management is a lifeline between resources in the community, medical care, and mental health care. Care managers monitor and encourage client progress by regularly assessing the integrated treatment plan and reducing social barriers. Care Managers at VBH are eager to assist clients by coordinating appointments, advocating for individuals and families, and facilitating client access to resources such as food banks, clothing, and transportation. VBH has a dedicated team of care managers ready to meet clients with no appointments necessary. Care Management is available at all VBH locations for those who qualify.
